In this issue - 'Practical science – why it’s worth the effort!' - a message from the CLEAPSS Director, tips for “Working scientifically” in the new National Curriculum and updated guidance on keeping alpacas and llamas.

This practical offers a safe, controlled and clean method for children to enjoy this reaction, whilst clearly being able to observe/identify the reactants and products.

This summer we get creative with some colour chemistry, learn how to raise caterpillars and butterflies, dissect some owl pellets and learn how to work safely with micro-organisms. There's also details of some free CPD from the Getting Practical programme and some of the more interesting calls to the helpline.

This term we look at the Primary Science Quality Mark as a way to put the spark back into primary science, and showcase some entries to the Ecology competition.
